Whether it is an informal pros and cons list or a formal decision analysis containing weighted criteria, trade studies are a vital step in almost every engineering design decision. They are a great tool to use in evaluating possible solutions, in an unbiased manner, using criteria generated during the decision analysis.

During a trade study, we will gather information such as the problem definition, requirements, and desires from you, the customer, to aid in brainstorming possible concepts. If necessary, we will evaluate your needs to determine which of the various decision analysis methodologies available best fit the trade study. For example, we can use the Kepner-Tregoe method to compare possible solutions in a quantitative manner and evaluate them to find the best possible choice with minimal negative consequences. After a methodology is chosen or prescribed, we will develop the study and deliver reliable results that fit your needs.
