Facility Condition Assessments

The heritage of Nelson Engineering Co. is facilities engineering. Our clients trust us to provide engineering services that sustain their existing real property portfolios. By The Numbers

Our 2021 Accomplishments:

  • 897 buildings
  • 116 support structures
  • 31.9 million square feet (cumulative)

Nelson Engineering Co. uses a proven, established process to perform FCAs for our clients. In 2000, we developed our assessment process for NASA, Air Force and Navy clients. We modeled our process on Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) guidelines published in NAVFAC MO-321 (Facilities Management) and MO-322 (Inspection of Shore Facilities), which was the standard for performing real property assessments at the time. Our assessment process has evolved based on continuous FCA experience and application of ASTM International Property  Condition Assessment and other professional guidance. In 2013, our expertise was expanded to include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) developed BUILDER Sustainment Management System (SMS).

Our methodology provides clients with an accurate and thorough condition assessment of their facility assets as dictated by mission supportability requirements. Clients we serve:

For a small company, we have a large group of engineers and professionals who perform facility condition assessments and capital asset management services for a broad array of clients – from NIH and NIST to the Army Corp of Engineers and commercial clients.

Our CAMS team is extremely flexible, deploys quickly, and conducts themselves with professionalism while minimizing impacts to our clients operations while on site.
