DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CAPABILITIES

Nelson Engineering designs and analyzes complex facilities and aerospace ground support mechanical systems. We perform planning studies, project scoping, requirements development, and two- and three-dimensional (2D/3D) computer-aided design and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Design tools we use to generate models and drawings include Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit as well as PTC Creo. We write specifications using SpecsIntact.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES

Our typical projects follow the systems engineering approach to design development. Clients provide requirements that we document, track and trace to each solution we design. We measure design progress collaboratively with our clients through iterative design reviews at preliminary, critical and final design completion milestones. At each milestone, we receive and disposition stakeholder inputs to ensure satisfaction of owner project requirements.

System Design and Analysis:

  • Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Environmental Control System (ECS)
  • Fire protection
  • High pressure gasses (nitrogen, helium)
  • Hypergolic and cryogenic propellants
  • Process water
  • Process cooling and heating
  • Vacuum and pneumatic
  • Thermal, vacuum chambers
  • Building mechanical and plumbing

Capabilities:

  • Finite element analysis
  • Computational fluid dynamics
  • Fluid flow modeling
  • 3D Matterport scans
  • Energy efficiency analysis
  • Clash detection through software
  • Trade studies

Our history of working for clients along the Space Coast has allowed our mechanical team to develop a varied set of highly technical design skills where each project requiring a unique solution has become the norm. From large scale process mechanical or cryogenic systems to economical HVAC designs for office spaces, our engineers apply the same dedicated focus to client value on all projects.“
